The beginning of our story dates back to August 12, 1989, when Rei dos Frangos opened its first takeaway grill house in Leiria.
Many of the recipes we still use today across our 20 Stores in Portugal - discover our locations here - come directly from our founders’ family recipe book!
And then? Taking our flavours to the world… happened in no time!

What are we?

Our selection of deep-frozen ready-meals was – and has been since 2010 – designed based on the success of recipes in our physical stores, and developed with a demand for the authenticity of Portuguese cuisine.

Our global innovation and bestseller – the original deep-frozen Charcoal-grilled Chicken – is the result of several years of development and knowledge gained from our experience in the food sector.

Who Are We?

FRANGUS was born from the internationalization of the company Churrasqueiras Rei dos Frangos, which started in 1989 with a takeaway grill house in Leiria. The respect for good Portuguese food and the famous grilled chicken with piri-piri sauce made this store a modern and dynamic company. Today, it has more than 250 employees and 20 stores in Portugal.
